Q: What is FTP?
A:

FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, is the protocol used to transfer files remotely from a client to a server, or from a server to a client. Using FTP you can transfer files in ASCII or binary, depending on the type of file you are transferring. FTP is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week for your use. Each domain has its own FTP space.

Q: What are the files doing in my account? I didn't put them there!
A:

Certain directories and files are created when your account was activated or when you enable certain functions of your account. These include catalogs, etc, mail, public_ftp, public_html, tmp and www. These files are required to be in your account for it to operation properly.
