E-mail
Step by step instructions on setting up E-mail accounts

Q: Are third party email servers supported?
A:

Any offnetwork mail service is supported. These services include Everyone.net and Bigmailbox to self-run mail servers. Use of third party mail services results in ALL email being handled by that service. No mail functions including catchall email addresses, mailing lists, and spam filtering will be available for your account locally.

Please forward the settings you require for use of any offnetwork mail services to support by using the helpdesk at http://support.geckohost.com/helpdesk or emailing us at support@geckohost.com

Q: How can I read mail via the web?
A:

To access mail via a web broswer, go to:

http://www.yourdomain.com:2095 OR
http://www.yourdomain.com/webmail

NOTE: If your domain is not resolving locally to our servers, you can substitute the IP address assigned to your account at setup for the domain name above.

Q: What is my incoming mail server / outgoing mail server / POP3 / SMTP names?
A:

For all mail related server names, use your domain name. For example, if your domain was yourdomain.com you would use yourdomain.com for incoming mail server, outgoing mailserver, pop3 server and SMTP server. The server name will be the same for every email account in your plan.

Q: What is an email alias?
A:

An email alias is a name@yourdomain.com that does not have its own POP3 account. For example, you could setup sales@yourdomain.com as an email alias and have all of the email sent to sales@yourdomain.com automatically sent to your own email address (either @yourdomain.com or outside our servers).

Q: How do I setup Outlook Express?
A:

Start Outlook or Outlook Express. Click Tools and choose Accounts.

In the "Internet Accounts Windows" click Add and choose Mail.

Fill in your name and click Next. Click "I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use" and fill in your email address.

Click Next.

On the "Email Servers Name" page, fill in the server information.

"My incoming mail server is a POP3 server." The incoming mail server should be your domain name, with the extension (yourdomain.com).

The Outgoing Mail (SMTP) should also be your domain name with the extension (yourdomain.com) unless your ISP requires the use of their mail server to send mail (MSN, Earthlink/Mindspring, and AOL are several examples; there are others).

Click Next.

Enter your mailbox username in the account name field, and the password below. Click Next and then Finish. For users other than the master account user, the login username in the last step must be set to the full user@yourdomain.com designation for that mailbox.
